Dog Control Coalition members
The Dog Control Coalition is a group of leading animal welfare charities, veterinary bodies and canine organisations whose work is directly affected by dog control legislation. Together, we bring: clinical veterinary expertise, rescue and rehoming experience, behavioural science knowledge, enforcement insight and policy and legislative expertise.
The Dog Control Coalition work together to achieve effective evidence-led dog control laws that focus on prevention, responsible ownership, and early intervention - keeping communities safe while protecting dog welfare.
We believe the current law, including Breed Specific Legislation (BSL), does not adequately protect the public, causes unnecessary suffering to dogs and distress to their owners. Dogs are seized by the police and/or euthanised because of how they look rather than how they behave, while the real causes, and solutions, of dog-related incidents are often overlooked. The Dog Control Coalition exists to change this.
We are united in our commitment to achieving effective, preventative dog control legislation that protects both people and dogs.
