DCC Parliamentary Event
Event highlights urgent need for change in dog control legislation
On Tuesday 17th March 2026, the Dog Control Coalition hosted a well-attended parliamentary drop-in event at Westminster, bringing together MPs, Peers, and key stakeholders to discuss dog control legislation in the UK.
During the session, attendees were presented with the Coalition’s latest report XL Bully Ban Impact Assessment, alongside a detailed briefing document outlining the challenges arising from current legislation. The materials highlighted concerns from across the sector, including animal welfare implications, enforcement pressures, and the unintended consequences of current dog control legislation.
The event provided an important opportunity for parliamentarians to engage directly with experts and advocates, ask questions, and better understand the need for a more effective, evidence-based approach to dog control.
The Dog Control Coalition is calling on MPs and Peers to support responsible dog ownership and to back the Coalition’s proposed pathway to change - one that prioritises education, early intervention, and improved evidence-led decision making.
